Happy New Year

How were your holidays? I hope you had a relaxing time with your family and loved ones. If you were like me you ate more than your fair share of turkey dinner and goodies!

Fortunately, the New Year is upon us – time to make those resolutions or recommitments to get back to your regular healthy eating and exercise routine. Personally, I'm ready to get back on the health wagon,

and am looking forward to incorporating some new healthy foods and meals into my eating habits.

Another common New Year's resolution is to quit smoking. If this is something that you are considering – congratulations! Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health and well being. Recently, the Province announced that smoking cessation products like nicotine replacement gum or patches will be covered by PharmaCare, and British Columbians have been taking us up on our offer in droves. In fact, since the program launched, more than 60,000 British Columbians have called for help quitting smoking.

I'm with you on the healthy eating. I'm cooking a good healthy meal each night for my family. I'm trying to fit in more veg!

First thing I'd do with $5,000 is go to a physiotherapist! You cannot do much physical activity with sciatica - and it's tough to get rid of sciatica without the help of a physiotherapist - and it's tough to obtain physiotherapy when the government has decided not to fund essential preventative services! Guess you'll just have to keep funding the more expensive acute care results - like in Royal Columbian Hospital? How smart is that?

Happy New Year to you too for starters! :) I am starting to juice more in the mornings and add that to my girls breakfast, usually carrots mixed in with some sort of fruit - organic or locally grown apples for the picky one and whatever is on hand for the other one and myself. Aside from that, the usual, get out more and exercise and be more adventurous. Just did the Polar Bear Swim for the first time and LOVED it! Will definitely do it again! Cheers! Good luck quitting smoking - good on ya!

Getting in more veggies is definitely important, CarysAdams3 ! And I really like the idea of juicing some of your fruits and veggies to help boost your intake – thanks for that suggestion, HiBabeRuth.
