Canada is a nation that offers a wide variety of sporting opportunities from grassroots to high performance. There's our long tradition and domination in ice hockey to paddling rivers where you won't see anyone else for weeks.

Our country offers great opportunities for sport participation across all ages and skill levels. Sports Day in Canada is a national celebration of sport from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. In the weeks leading up to November 30th, communities throughout BC will be hosting events, open houses, games, and try-it sessions to get us in the spirit. It's a misconception that sport is only for elite athletes and kids; the truth is that sport participation is for everyone and all can enjoy the benefits regardless of age, skill level, or gender. Remember, a pair of ice skates may seem expensive initially but will your cable TV subscription provide you with:

  • stress management
  • an opportunity for socializing and making new friends
  • enhanced mental wellbeing and confidence
  • feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction
  • increased balance and muscular strength
  • increased physical fitness

Sports Day in Canada is a great opportunity, for all ages and abilities, to explore a new sport or to share their favourite one. Next time you're wondering whether to watch television or go snowshoeing, think of all the fun you had on Sports Day in Canada, and lace'em up!
