I tend to prefer jogging and working out in the evenings.
For me, there are a few reasons for that – it’s cooler, and I can do it when I get home from work. One of the major reasons though is that since I am still early on in this whole process, I still get really tired after a run. If I went for a ten km jog in the mornings, I’m not sure that I’d have enough gas to get through the rest of my day.
So, it’s all about finding a happy medium. Of course, there are also days when it is just really hard to find the motivation to get out there and run.
Yesterday, for example, I really didn’t feel like jogging. My legs were sore and I was tired. But I went out anyways and after I was really glad I did. One of the keys that I’ve found is tricking yourself into finding the motivation to get out there. Yesterday, what worked for me was pulling the cover off of the barbeque. I took a steak out of the fridge and knew that when I got back I would have it waiting for me.
Even then, I only ran for about six km, because I wasn’t feeling top notch, but then when I got back I had the barbeque all ready for the steak and that was the way that I rewarded myself.
That’s the key – find little ways to get yourself out, and don’t be too hard on yourself if you cut the jog or work out short. The most important part is just putting on your sneakers and hitting the road!
