5 ways to well-being

There are two main elements to well-being: feeling good and functioning well. To feel and function better, there are things you can do – the Five Ways to Well-being.


Well-being is how we feel about ourselves and our part in the world around us. It is affected by our circumstances, the activities we are involved in, and our inner strength and resources.  By improving our well-being, we are more able to:

  • Five ways to well-beingEngage with people and the world around us
  • Have positive relationships
  • Have a sense of purpose
  • Bounce back from difficulties

The five interrelated ways of well-being are: connect, be active, notice, keep learning and give. Learn what you can do in each way of well-being and how they all work together.
