Sodium and Your Heart

Did you know that September 29th is World Heart Day?

One of the best ways to show your heart you care is through healthy eating. Reducing your intake of dietary sodium is a key way to lower your chances of high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease.

With that in mind we wanted to refresh your memory about all the resources, tools and videos available on HealthyFamilies BC for you to use and share relating to sodium and your health.

If you haven’t seen the fun Sodium City commercial check it out!

Use the interactive Sodium Sense tool to select low-sodium food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Remember to aim for 1500mg – 2300mg of sodium per day or 500 mg - 800 mg per meal.

Test your sodium knowledge by playing along with the Sodium Challenge and see if you know which food is the best choice.

Happy Heart Day!
