
I made it!
Last Sunday was race day, and I am proud to say that I successfully completed my first ever half marathon.
Being my first race I can honestly say it was a personal best! Thank you to all the volunteers who came out early on a Sunday to support the event from the start to the finish line – I truly felt a sense of community spirit during and after the race.
Over the past few days I have been recovering from the run - I have definitely noticed some extra aches and pains. The help I received through the Physical Activity Line (8-1-1) in advance of the run included some tips on recovery after exercise – I need to continue with easy walking and stretching this week but not do anything too strenuous. They also taught me the importance of hydration in recovery so I have been trying my best to keep water on hand. Now that I’ve reached this goal, I am going to have to start thinking about the next one... any ideas?
