Master-Pizza

I always look forward to my niece and nephews coming over and having a chance to cook with them.

Unfortunately, at a recent visit, we were stuck being short on time together. Instead of bailing and ordering in food, my wife and I decided to stick to the plan and make pizza at home. To save time, we prepped the dough and got all the fixings ready before they arrived so that as soon as they got there, we were in business. It was probably faster than delivery.

The great thing about a home made pizza plan, is that we not only get to cook together; we also get to personalize and tailor our plates to our own preferences - everyone gets to choose from what’s offered and everyone feels like a chef.

Fun, low pressure cooking and eating together is what it is all about.

We all mill about the ingredients and talk about what we like and what goes well together. The kids can get adventurous or stay as safe as they want (yes, a plain baked pizza crust is a choice – don’t worry, he will likely want more stuff on it next time). Then we all get to taste our creations, even adding or tasting a few new ingredients afterwards, when we start talking about how good the fresh basil was with the cooked tomatoes, or how the arugula and black pepper complimented the sautéed chicken. (Mental note: the Louisiana hot sauce was a bit much for one little guy, but maybe next year!). Result, they are all master-pizzas.

It’s always better together. Got some easy fun ideas to get adventurous in the kitchen with the whole team?
