It’s been a couple of weeks now since the half-marathon, and I am happy to say that I am still pounding the pavement a couple of times a week.
I’ve eased off a bit since the race to give my body a bit of a break, but I’m still trying to maintain my fitness level with regular runs. The good folks over at the Physical Activity Line (8-1-1) have told me that it is good to balance my running with resistance training in order to see faster results. Resistance training can benefit you in a number of ways - your posture and balance will improve, it will help you to build stronger bones and build muscle, and it will help increase your energy levels.
Hopefully next week Ill have started my new program and will be able to share my experience of going back to a gym for the first time in many (many, many) years. How do you balance out your training – do you cross-train too?
