I took part in the Abbotsford Family Fest last weekend - I was there announcing Healthy Families BC Communities, a grass roots community based program that will be kicking off across the province next year.
Luckily enough while at the festival I was able to fit in a game of street hockey.
I used to play hockey all the time in my younger years, and always loved it – the camaraderie, the competition and the exercise were a great way to release some stress and have fun. With my busy schedule I haven’t been able to play as much as I would like so this was a fun opportunity to get back in the game.
Families from across Abbotsford came out for the Family Fest, which was an opportunity for the community to profile healthy lifestyles. The Abbotsford Pilots junior hockey team were in on the action, as were the mayors of Abbotsford and Langley.
It is not always easy to think of exercise as ‘fun’ but if you can play a sport you enjoy it sure helps.
