When Did We Get So Thirsty?

On the weekend, Joanna and I (yes, we spend time together outside of work too…it’s adorable) were shopping for boots.

After each trying on 30 different pairs of boots, we were thirsty, so we made a quick stop for lunch to refuel. The drink options came in two sizes: regular and large (small wasn’t an option.)

As thirsty as we were, we didn’t even finish the regular size.

Nutrition for Autism: Putting it into Context

As much as I enjoy writing, I didn’t enjoy taking English literature in school.

The curriculum always seemed short sighted. Being asked to answer questions such as “What did the author mean when he cast a shadow of a blackberry on the tail of the bluebird?” felt ridiculous and insignificant. I didn’t really care what something meant to the author (a stranger to me). What I wanted to be asked was: “What does this mean to you right now?”

Ready, Set, Shop!

This is the season of being thankful.

Thanksgiving Day was born as a celebration of the “bountiful harvest” of the year’s crops. While many of us have lost the connection between the food on our plates and the farm that it came from, we’ve retained the notion of reflecting on (even if it’s for just a moment) the meal in front of us, the people around us and the opportunities that life puts before us.

Eggs Come from Cows?

October 2, 2012 by Kenton Delisle | Posted in: Heathy Eating | Tags: shopping sense, grocery shopping

It’s not that uncommon for some people to think eggs are “dairy”, which would suggest that eggs are part of the Milk and Alternatives food group. Not an irrational thought when you consider eggs are often found in the dairy case. This came up again recently when I was talking food with my buddy Pete. He was casually asking about calcium and sources, for himself and his wife (we have to talk about something while the  game is loading.)

Here’s how it went down:
