Pre-packaged foods are labelled with a Nutrition Facts table and an ingredient list. These features of the nutrition label contain important information about the nutritional content of food.

Nutrition Label - Sugar

Here are some important tips to help you make healthy drink choices:

  • Choose drinks that contain "no added sugar" most of the time.
  • If you see any of these words on the ingredient list, it means sugar has been added: sugar, brown sugar, cane sugar, beet sugar, sugar/glucose-fructose, dextrose, high fructose corn syrup, maltose, sucrose, fruit juice concentrates, honey, molasses, maltodextrin, agave syrup, malt syrup, maple syrup and syrup.

  • Fast Fact

There is little nutritional difference between the types of sugar. Limit your intake of all kinds.
